What Was the Goal?
Creating a Festive Game
Takashimaya wanted a fun Christmas game in 2022 to get users hyped and snag e-commerce vouchers. My job was to design a holiday experience that felt magical and fit their brand perfectly.
Coming Up with the Idea
A Dreamland Adventure
I brainstormed a concept called “Dreamland,” where users log in daily, play a game, and earn vouchers. I gave it a spacey twist with “Space Wallet” and used bright reds, greens, and blues to make it feel festive and fun, matching Takashimaya’s vibe.
Mapping the Flow
I created a simple user flow: start at Space Wallet, play the game, check promos, copy codes or get email links, and redeem vouchers online or in-store. There was also a sign-in option if needed. I worked with developers early to make sure it was doable and made tweaks based on their feedback.
Sketching Wireframes
I drew wireframes to show how the app would look: a start page with a “Play game” button, a daily login tracker (Day 1 to 6, with a reset if you miss a day), and a wallet section for vouchers (like 50% off at stores like ABCDEF123). These kept things clear and user-focused.
Bringing It to Life
Working with Artists
I teamed up with artists to design the game’s look a rocket-riding character in a snowy, magical Dreamland with Christmas lights. We made sure it screamed Takashimaya’s festive style while keeping it playful.
Building a Prototype
I made a clickable prototype to show the flow, from playing to redeeming, with buttons like “Start” and “Go to Wallet.” Clients loved the festive vibe but wanted clearer redemption steps, so I added a confirmation page. The devs said the prototype helped them understand how the game and wallet features connected.
Key Takeaways
This project showed me how important it is to stick to the brand while keeping things easy for users. Working with devs early saved us trouble, and the prototype got everyone on the same page. Next time, I’d love to dive into user feedback to see how real people use it after the launch!
